This is the first album without founding member and guitar player Dino Cazares.
Christian Olde Wolbers did both guitars and bass on this album. Fear Factory had
just recruited new bassist Byron Stroud (Strapping Young Lad), but due to
then-contract issues with Century Media, Byron was not allowed to record it,
despite being credited.

The limited edition digipack includes a bonus DVD. Depending on where you
obtained the digipack from, the bonus DVD will either be one of their
Australian tour of 2004 and the video for 'Cyberwaste'; or a DVD based around
The Making Of Archetype.
Some, though not all, versions of the bonus digipack also included a gold
ticket that gave you a chance to meet Fear Factory live.

A fourteenth unknown track was also recorded during these sessions but has yet
to be released.

Japanese Version contains the bonus track "Archetype (Remix)"
